Faustina

Faustina was designed by Omnibus-Type and released in 2018. It is a slab serif designed from the outset for screen reading at small sizes, which distinguishes it from many slab serifs better suited to display use. The ink traps, open apertures, and controlled slab proportions are calibrated for rendering in news and editorial contexts where body text runs at ten to fourteen pixels. Six weights from Light to ExtraBold are available as a variable font, with a full italic companion. Omnibus-Type is an Argentine type studio with a strong track record in text-first design, and Faustina reflects that discipline — it does not call attention to its slab characteristics at reading sizes, functioning closer to a workhorse editorial text face than a characterful display slab. It is well suited to news platforms, digital publications, and product interfaces that use a slab serif for body rather than heading use.
