EB Garamond

EB Garamond is an open-source revival of the old-style types cut by Claude Garamond in the sixteenth century, developed by Georg Duffner starting in 2011 and later extended by Octavio Pardo. The design references the original Egenolff-Berner specimen closely, preserving the low contrast, angled stress, and bracketed serifs characteristic of Renaissance type. Well suited to scholarly publishing, academic body text, and long-form contexts where historical texture is appropriate.
